Welcome Day for International Students

On 1 October 2026, the Faculty of Croatian Studies held a Welcome Day for international students attending the winter semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.

Students from Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Brazil were welcomed by the Vice-Dean for International Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Antonia Ordulj, PhD, and the Head of the Office for International Cooperation, Josip Zekić, MA in History Education.

It was emphasised that student mobility provides an opportunity not only for academic development, but also for intercultural exchange, the sharing of knowledge, and the formation of new friendships.

During the Welcome Day, the students attended an introductory lecture and a meeting with the Office for International Cooperation, where they received key information about the Faculty, their study obligations, and student life in Zagreb. The buddy programme organised by ESN Zagreb was also presented, through which local students help international students adjust to their new environment.

The activities of student associations at the Faculty of Croatian Studies were introduced by Iva Ignjačić, President of the Student Council of the Faculty of Croatian Studies. International students can also rely on the support of the Faculty’s own buddy, Ema Horvat, a graduate student of psychology.

Following the official programme, the students were given a tour of the Faculty buildings and library and received commemorative gifts.

The Faculty looks forward to the new semester and to all the encounters, experiences, and memories that international students will take with them from Zagreb and from our Faculty. We wish them a successful, fulfilling, and unforgettable stay, as well as many enjoyable moments that will make their time in Zagreb truly special.
