How to register in order to study in Croatia?

The entire application and enrolment procedure falls under the authority of the National Information and Application System for Higher Education (NISpVU), the National Centre for External Evaluation of Education, the Agency for Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth of the Republic of Croatia.

Useful official sources are available at www.studij.hr and www.azvo.hr/preglednik.

Important: candidates who completed their previous education abroad should carefully follow the official instructions for registration, document submission and recognition of foreign educational qualifications within the Croatian central admissions system.
Have you already registered and activated your profile?

Instructions for registration may be found on the website https://www.studij.hr/all-about-applications, under the section intended for candidates who have completed their high school education abroad.

Path on the website:
All About Applications → Candidates who have completed their high school education abroad → Application → Instructions for filling in the registration form

Before proceeding with any further steps, candidates should make sure that their registration has been completed successfully and that their profile has been activated.

Documents

Along with the documentation required to apply for study programmes, it is also necessary to submit the Request for recognition.

You may obtain the Request for recognition only after you have registered on the website www.postani-student.hr.

Please note: do not fill in and send the request before sending all required documents, since the procedure for recognition of a foreign secondary education qualification will not begin for candidates who have not submitted the complete documentation.

Instructions on how to submit mandatory documents for the purpose of applying for study programmes and for the recognition of foreign secondary education qualifications may be found within the option:

Recognition of secondary education qualification

The procedure for the recognition of foreign high school qualifications that form part of general, gymnasium or art school programmes, as well as the procedure for the recognition of foreign qualifications that form part of vocational programmes for the purpose of continuing education, is conducted by the Agency for Science and Higher Education.

The procedure for the recognition of a foreign higher education qualification based on a completed undergraduate study programme, for the purpose of enrolling in a graduate study programme, is conducted by the university at which the graduate study programme is to be enrolled.

More information is available here:
Guidelines for starting the procedure for assessment of foreign higher education qualification

Based on the Law on Recognition and Evaluation of Foreign Educational Qualifications (National Gazette, 69/2022), recognition of a foreign secondary education qualification can be processed only as part of the central admissions system, which means only for candidates who have registered on the website postani-student.hr.

The decision on professional recognition of a foreign high school education qualification is delivered directly to the higher education institution for the purpose of enrolment.

Candidates are independently responsible for checking the deadline for submitting the decision and for verifying in which form it must be delivered.

If you have any questions, problems or issues regarding the application process, please contact the Central Application Office at applications@azvo.hr.
