Representatives of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Mostar Visit the Faculty of Croatian Studies

A working meeting with the Management of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Mostar was held at the Faculty of Croatian Studies of the University of Zagreb on 28 May 2026. This was the first official visit by representatives of the Mostar Faculty following the signing of the cooperation agreement between the two institutions last year.

On behalf of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Mostar, the meeting was attended by the Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dražen Barbarić, PhD; the Vice-Dean for Teaching, Prof. Senka Marinčić, PhD; the Vice-Dean for International Cooperation, Asst. Prof. Jelena Jurčić, PhD; and the Vice-Dean for Science, Prof. Jela Sabljić Vujica, PhD.

The Faculty of Croatian Studies was represented by the Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dario Vučenović, PhD, and the Vice-Deans: Asst. Prof. Vanja Kopilaš, PhD; Assoc. Prof. Marko Jerković, PhD; Assoc. Prof. Antonia Ordulj, PhD; Assoc. Prof. Rona Bušljeta Kardum, PhD; and Asst. Prof. Vlatko Smiljanić, PhD.

The meeting was also attended by the Vice-Rector of the University of Zagreb for International and Interinstitutional Cooperation, Prof. Jurica Pavičić, PhD, and the Head of the Central University Office for International and Interinstitutional Cooperation, Krešimir Jurak, Prof. Prof. Emer. Zygfryd Eckardt Gehrmann, PhD, Head of the Centre for German and European Studies, also took part in the discussion.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the further strengthening of institutional cooperation between the Faculty of Croatian Studies and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Mostar, particularly in the areas of lifelong learning, exchange of teachers and students, joint academic activities, and the development of teaching, scientific, and international forms of cooperation. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of support from the University of Zagreb and the Faculty of Croatian Studies in further connecting the two institutions, as well as on the need for concrete programmes that would enable more intensive mobility, exchange of experience, and joint activities in areas of mutual academic and social interest.

The participants agreed that the existing cooperation agreement represents an important foundation for further cooperation, as well as a starting point for designing new forms of collaboration aimed at students, teachers, and the wider academic community. It was emphasised that the Faculty of Croatian Studies and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Mostar are connected by numerous scientific, teaching, cultural, and identity-related issues, as well as by a shared responsibility for the development of humanities and social studies within the Croatian academic sphere.

The meeting took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, with both sides expressing their readiness to further develop the agreed areas of cooperation in the coming period through joint programmes, mobility schemes, projects, and other forms of interinstitutional cooperation.
