Canadian philosopher Dr. Christopher Yorke visits the Faculty of Croatian Studies

The Faculty of Croatian Studies has hosted Canadian philosopher and scholar Dr. Christopher Yorke from Langara College in Vancouver. Dr. Yorke is visiting the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies at the invitation of Assistant Professor Matija Mato Škerbić, with the aim of strengthening international academic cooperation and the exchange of knowledge, particularly in the fields of philosophy and the (bio)ethics of sport, as well as the philosophy of play and games.

On behalf of the Faculty of Croatian Studies, Dr. Yorke was welcomed by Assistant Professor Antonia Ordulj, Vice Dean for International Cooperation, Associate Professor Marko Kardum, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies, and Assistant Professor Matija Mato Škerbić.

During his stay, Dr. Yorke will participate in research activities with members of the Department, contribute to the organization of the international conference titled 5th International Conference Ethics, Bioethics and Sport, which will take place on May 6 and 7 at the Faculty of Croatian Studies, and deliver lectures within the courses New Ethical Culture, Ethics, and Philosophy of Education.

In co-authorship with Assistant Professor Škerbić, he is preparing two papers that they will jointly present in September this year at the 54th International Association for the Philosophy of Sport Conference in São Paulo (Brazil).

Dr. Yorke will stay at the Faculty of Croatian Studies during the summer semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, which will enable the establishment of academic cooperation and work on the preparation of several projects within an international framework.
