On Friday, 8 May, beginning at 12:00 noon, the Faculty of Croatian Studies of the University of Zagreb will organise the International Scientific Conference “Fascism: Theory and History of an Idea” in the Library of the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb.
The Organising Committee consists of Asst. Prof. Vlatko Smiljanić, PhD, Asst. Prof. Ivan Perkov, PhD, Prof. Hrvoje Volner, PhD, Adrijan Štivić, MA in Comparative Literature and History (doctoral candidate), and Bruno Šagi, MA in History (doctoral candidate).
The conference is included in the programme of Kliofest, the History Festival. This is the fourth year in which Bruno Šagi and Adrijan Štivić, both doctoral candidates in the Doctoral Programme in History, have initiated an interdisciplinary scientific conference within Kliofest, with the aim of strengthening ties among scholars and enhancing the role of scholars in the public sphere.
In previous years, they organised the conferences “Liberalism: Theory and History of an Idea” (2023), “Conservatism: Theory and History of an Idea” (2024), and “Socialism: Theory and History of an Idea” (2025). To date, a volume of conference proceedings has been published under the title Liberalism: Theory and History of an Idea. Proceedings Marking the 300th Anniversary of the Birth of Adam Smith, 1723–2023, edited by Darko Polšek, Bruno Šagi and Adrijan Štivić.
