List of Rector’s Award Recipients for the 2024/2025 Academic Year Published

The Rector’s Award is a recognition presented by the Rector of the University of Zagreb to outstanding students for exceptional scientific, professional, artistic, or socially beneficial work and projects. The Rector’s Award is one of the most prestigious honors a student can receive during their studies.

The University of Zagreb has announced that for the 2024/2025 academic year, the Rector’s Award Committee has reviewed and evaluated works proposed by the University’s constituent units. Rector Prof. Stjepan Lakušić, Ph.D., has awarded the authors of 108 papers in six categories:

  • 73 papers in category (a) – individual scientific and artistic papers

  • 9 papers in category (b) – team scientific and artistic papers

  • 1 paper in category (c) – individual innovation papers

  • 4 papers in category (d) – team innovation papers

  • 5 papers in category (e) – artistic performance works

  • 16 papers in category (f) – works promoting social responsibility and solidarity

The ceremonial award presentation will take place on Thursday, 6 November 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Radoslava Cimermana 88, in the premises of the University of Zagreb (SEECEL Building).

Among the awardees are the following students of the Faculty of Croatian Studies:

  1. Marino Kosor: Product Placement in Central News Broadcasts: An Analysis Based on Three of the Most Watched TV Networks in Croatia

  2. Lucijan Mofardin: Illegal Waste Disposal and the Impact of Environmental Associations on Collective Awareness of Effective Waste Management in the Republic of Croatia

  3. Iva Vukošić: Students’ Self-Assessment in Writing Academic Papers: With or Without ChatGPT?

  4. Iva Ignjačić, Petar Obad: Predictors of Self-Diagnosing Mental Disorders Among Students at the University of Zagreb

  5. Laura Banek, Jana Benković, Ela Dlaka, Andrijana Lončar, Leona Milosavljević: Political Apathy or Activism? How Generation Z Approaches Politics in the Digital Age

  6. Sara Tomas, Nika Vukosav, Krista Zuber: Risky Gambling Behaviour Among High School Students

  7. In the artistic interdisciplinary category, for the research project “Nature and Opera – An Interdisciplinary Student Opera Production”, organized by students from several faculties, Leonarda Radoš and Izabela Bižaca, students of the Faculty of Croatian Studies, were among the awardees.

  8. In the technical sciences, for the project “Conference Organization: The Future of Comfortable Living 2025 – GreenTalks: Thinking Outside the Box”, which involved students from several faculties, Franciska Kerošević, a student of the Faculty of Croatian Studies, participated in the organization.
