Department of Philosophy and Culture
Graduate study programme in Philosophy focuses on widening and deepening of the knowledge students have acquired in the course of their undergraduate study of Philosophy. Students acquire basic knowledge in philosophy of science, political and legal philosophy, philosophy of mind and cognitive science, as well as more advanced knowledge in metaphysics, epistemology and ethics. Through a series of elective courses, students acquire additional specialist knowledge in other philosophical disciplines and interdisciplinary philosophical areas, such as logic, aesthetics, applied ethics, philosophy of religion, philosophy of biology, philosophy of the social sciences and the history of philosophy. Students of the research stream learn basic principles of research methodology in the field of philosophy. Diploma thesis is written during the fourth semester.
