Antonia Ordulj was born on 19 December 1984 in Rijeka, Croatia. She attended primary school in Novi Vinodolski and graduated from a musical comprehensive high school in Rijeka. In 2009 she obtained her MA in Croatian Philology from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Rijeka. She speaks English and holds the Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE). During her studies she held a national scholarship for gifted students awarded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports.

She worked for several months at Retkovec Primary School as a form teacher and teacher of Croatian. From 1 March 2013 to 1 February 2014 she worked as an external associate (lector) at Croaticum – Centre for Croatian as a Second and Foreign Language, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. There she taught semester courses, classes at the Little Summer School and the Crash Course in Croatian Language and Culture during the orientation week (23–28 September 2013) for exchange students at the University of Zagreb. From 1 October 2014 to 31 January 2021 she was employed at Croaticum. She taught Language Exercises in Croatian as a Second and Foreign Language in semester courses and short courses, as well as the course Croatian Language and Culture for Erasmus exchange students at the University of Zagreb.

In 2021 she joined the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, as an Assistant Professor. In 2026 she was promoted to Associate Professor in the scientific area of Humanities, field of Philology, branch of Croatian Studies. At the Faculty she teaches Glottodidactics, Teaching Croatian as a Non-Native Language, Academic Literacy, Croatian as a Foreign Language 1, Croatian as a Foreign Language 2 and Education in the Diaspora. She independently designed and developed the syllabi for Glottodidactics, Teaching Croatian as a Non-Native Language, Croatian as a Foreign Language 1 and Croatian as a Foreign Language 2.

In the academic year 2011/2012 (1 October 2011 – 1 October 2012) she was a student in the doctoral programme in Glottodidactics. During that year she completed research training at the Laboratory for Psycholinguistic Research (POLIN), Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Zagreb, under the supervision of Prof. Melita Kovačević, PhD, and Gordana Hržica, PhD. There she took part in professional and scientific work related primarily to the Croatian Corpus of Child Language (HKDJ; Kovačević, 2002), as well as in corpus-based research and the preparation of papers.

She has participated in several competitive research projects:

In the academic year 2019/2020 she participated in the project Computational Representation and Display of the Text of the Academy's Dictionary, supported by the University of Zagreb.

She has published 23 scientific papers and 3 (co-)authored books. She also authored an e-learning course in Croatian as a non-native language at level A2, developed at the initiative of the Central State Office for Croats Abroad, and an online module for learning Croatian as a non-native language within the UNIC project. She has presented at 24 scientific and professional conferences in Croatia and abroad.

In December 2016 and December 2018 she gave invited lectures entitled "Croatian as a Non-Native Language – On Vocabulary" for speech and language pathology students at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences. In September 2019 she gave an invited lecture entitled "Introduction to the Croatian Language" for German studies students from Croatia, Romania, Serbia and Germany. The lecture was part of the international summer school Teaching and Learning in a Performative Way: Drama Pedagogy in Teaching German as a Foreign Language at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. In April 2022 she gave the lecture "How to Teach Non-Native Speakers?" at the round table Croatian Language Teaching Abroad – Importance, Challenges and Needs at the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb. In March 2025 she gave an invited lecture at the inter-county professional meeting Planning and Programming the Teaching of Croatian as a Non-Native Language, organised by the Education and Teacher Training Agency. The lecture was entitled "Assessing the Language and Communication Abilities of Non-Native Learners with Regard to Developmental Characteristics and Factors Affecting Second Language Acquisition".

Her main research interest is the acquisition of Croatian as a first and non-native language (vocabulary learning strategies, language anxiety, collocations, corpus analysis, writing and listening in a non-native language, etc.). She has undertaken professional training in the mental lexicon, computational and corpus linguistics, the use of information and communication technologies in non-native language teaching, leadership, international marketing and recruitment. She has also taken part in symposia of the Early Language Learning Section of the Croatian Philological Society.

She is a member of the Croatian Philological Society, the Croatian Applied Linguistics Society and the Slavic Linguistics Society. In 2012 she served as secretary of the international scientific conference Croatian as a Second and Foreign Language (4th HIDIS), held in Zagreb. From 2013 to 2021 she was a member of the organising committees of the Seminar for Lectors of Croatian as a Non-Native Language (SIH), held in Zagreb. In December 2019 she organised a round table on collocations entitled "When Words Are Not Random" (CoS) at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb.
