Description:

Provide interdisciplinary knowledge necessary to study the issues of population development and its implications for overall socio-economic development. To equip students with appropriate conceptual and analytical tools in population studies. Provide opportunities to develop and apply these tools in problem solving. To equip them with knowledge and understanding of the relationship between population movements and economic, social and geographical processes. Develop the skills and competencies to successfully conduct primary research worth publishing in the field of demographics.

Learning outcomes:

- Define relevant demographic research and hypotheses.
- Relate theory and demographic methods appropriate to a particular demographic survey
- Explain demographic information, including qualitative and quantitative survey results, and discuss their validity
- Select demographic's data and literature relevant to a particular research question
- Compare and evaluate different methods used in demographic research
- Use advanced terms related to population structure (including age structure, population size, population growth rates)
- Explain advanced tables and figures with demographic's data
- Explain the relationship between demographic and economic structure of the population
