Lecture Announcement: From Village to Politics – The Development and Role of the Polish People’s Movement

At the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, at the Department of Sociology, Polish scholar Professor Arkadiusz Indraszczyk is visiting this week and will deliver a lecture for graduate students of sociology as part of the course Sociology of Social Change.

The lecture, titled “The Polish People’s/Peasant Movement”, will take place on Wednesday, 27th May, at 15:55 in the Gospić lecture hall.

In his presentation, Professor Indraszczyk will introduce one of the oldest and most significant socio-political movements in Poland, whose origins date back to the late 19th century. This movement has historically represented the interests of rural populations and smaller urban communities while developing a strong institutional structure – including political parties, socio-economic organizations, and media outlets. The lecture will cover the historical development of the movement, as well as its political and social significance for the Polish state and the broader civilizational development of rural areas.

Professor Arkadiusz Indraszczyk is a historian and political scientist at the University of Siedlce, where he serves as Director of the Institute of Political Science and Administration. He is also a senior curator at the Museum of the History of the Polish People’s Movement in Warsaw. He is the author of numerous academic publications and monographs, and his research focuses on political parties, social movements, European integration, and political thought.

We invite all students, as well as other interested participants, to join us for this engaging lecture and discussion.
