Assistant Prof. Ivan Perkov and Prof. Renato Matić, faculty members of the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Croatian Studies, have been awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Science, Education, and Youth in cooperation with the House of the Wannsee Conference to participate in an international educational program dedicated to teaching about the Holocaust and preventing antisemitism.

The program will take place from April 27 to May 1 in Wannsee, Germany, a site of exceptional historical importance. It was there, in 1942, that a conference was held at which high-ranking Nazi officials coordinated the implementation of the so-called “Final Solution to the Jewish Question.” Today, this site is one of the key places of European remembrance culture and Holocaust education.

The program brings together selected participants from various countries and represents one of the most relevant international professional training programs in the field of Holocaust education. The participation of Professors Perkov and Matić confirms their professional recognition and further contributes to the international visibility and academic reputation of the Department of Sociology.

This scholarship comes after the same professors earlier this year received support from Northwestern University for course development, further confirming the continuity of their academic work.
