The Department of Sociology was established in 1992 and is one of the core disciplines of the Faculty of Croatian Studies. The concept of sociology studies focuses on the application of sociological theories and social science methodology for understanding social processes and phenomena in the specific context of Croatian society and comparatively in a European and global perspective. The study of sociology aims to train highly qualified sociological research personnel with professional research and analytical skills necessary for productive work in the public and private sectors. The sociology program at the bachelor's and master's levels is organized according to current international scientific standards.
The inaugural lecture by Ana Marija Dunaj, PhD, will take place on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, starting at 9:35 a.m., in the Pula Hall at the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, Borongajska cesta 83d, Zagreb.
The inaugural lecture is held as part of the appointment procedure for a vacant scientific-teaching position of Assistant Professor in the interdisciplinary field of science, within the scientific field of Communication Sciences and the scientific field of Sociology, on the topic “Safety on Social Media”.
The lecture will be delivered before an expert committee, faculty members, students, and other interested participants. A discussion session, including questions for the lecturer regarding the presented topic, will follow the lecture.
