As part of the 36th Marulić Days (Marulićevi dani) programme in Split, Professor Šime Demo, PhD, delivered a public presentation of the research project “Early Modern Latin Stone Inscriptions in the Churches of Southern Istria: Documentation, Analysis and Contextualisation (LAPIS)” (Croatian Science Foundation, IP-2022-10-5068) on 24 April 2026, before an international audience representing five countries. The Faculty of Croatian Studies serves as the host institution for the project.
Professor Demo also conducted a two-part workshop entitled “The Epigrapher’s Craft: Preserving Stone Inscriptions from the Ravages of Time”, organised as part of the project's activities.
The workshop brought together students from Split, Zadar and Zagreb, introducing them to the fundamental methods and procedures of modern epigraphic documentation, analysis, scholarly commentary and presentation of epigraphic material.
A report on the workshop will be published in the forthcoming issue of the annual scholarly journal Colloquia Maruliana.
